Summer Language Programs – Applications Now Open!
 

 Summer Language: German in Eichstätt 

This is a non-Augustana-sponsored program for German learners. Students apply directly to the provider and can petition transfer credit for courses or internship credit earned. The program requires sophomore status and a 2.00 GPA at the time of application through the semester before travel.

Summer Language: French in Dijon

This is a college-sponsored program led by an Augustana faculty member in the summer every other year. The program ran in 2023 and is planned to be offered again in 2025. It travels to Dijon, France, for 6 weeks and provides a great opportunity for French learners. Participants are required to be registered at the college and in good academic standing. Minimum requirements are 2 semesters of studies and a 2.0 GPA. Financial Aid is available.

Summer Language: Spanish in the Andes 

This is a college-sponsored program led by an Augustana faculty member in the summer of every year. It travels to Cuenca, Ecuador. Participants are required to be registered at the college and in good academic standing. Minimum requirements are 2 semesters of studies and a 2.0 GPA.

Summer Language: Spanish in Sevilla (SSA)

This is a college-sponsored program provided by SSA, our partner in Seville. It travels to Sevilla, Spain. This program is for Spanish learners who would like to spend a portion in of their summer in the southern part of Spain. Participants are required to be registered at the college and in good academic standing. Minimum requirements are 2 semesters of studies and a 2.0 GPA.

Application Process

All programs require completion of the application process provided here on the Studio Abroad site. This will also be the site used for all required predeparture documents and orientation materials. 

Students applying for the Augustana-sponsored programs, in Ecuador and France, pay a $100 non-refundable IOP fee and a $200 program deposit at the time of application. 

For the Augustana-sponsored programs, additional program payments for summer programs are due April 1 and May 1. Only students who are paid in full by the May 1 deadline are guaranteed clearance to travel on the summer program. Students with incomplete payments or incomplete pre-departure documentation on Studio Abroad may be denied participation in the summer program until such time as both the forms and the payments are complete. If a student fails to complete either by the set deadline in May, they will be withdrawn from the program and any non-refundable costs will be billed to them or retained from their refund. 

 

Financial Aid

No Federal, State, or Augustana financial aid may be applied to the cost of a summer study away program. 

The summer language programs listed above are Augustana-approved and are Augie Choice eligible for students in the summer after their sophomore or junior years. Transfer students may access Augie Choice after one year of study at Augustana. Students must adhere to all eligibility rules for Augie Choice and submit the Augie Choice application through this study abroad website.

Additional grants through Augustana, such as the IOP Office's Passport Grant, apply to Augustana-sponsored programs. 

It is also possible if the application is completed promptly, for students to apply for national or international grants towards summer language study.
